Flying Taco / Towanda Tour Recap: And Then There Were Three…
After a flurry of texts and some careful weather-watching, the decision was made: the Flying Taco / Towanda Tour was on!
In the end, it was just the three of us—Joe, Bruce, and myself—who met up at Griggs Coffee as planned.
Joe led the way with a well-planned route that delivered some of the best riding of the season. Route 414 easily took the title of "favorite of the day," offering smooth pavement, twisty fun, and beautiful views. Along the way, we made a few memorable stops, including the iconic Hillsgrove and Forksville covered bridges (of Big Mike's fame), and a photo-worthy pause at the Marie Antoinette Overlook before heading toward Camptown, PA.
Lunch was served at The Flying Taco in Towanda. While I won’t pretend to be a foodie, I can at least report that the food hit the spot!
Our return trip featured some unexpected fun, including a quick photo-op with the chicken (Coddie folks, you know the one) and a visit to the Knapp Covered Bridge—worth a look if you haven’t been: Knapp’s Covered Bridge.
With ice cream on our minds, we wound our way back via Route 414 and a few other gems, setting our sights on Waltz Creamery. Unfortunately, it was closed for the day. But no worries—Bruce saved the day by steering us to a sweet alternative: the Phil-it-Up Drive-In in Jersey Shore, where we ended the ride on a high note.
It may have just been the three of us, but it was a ride to remember—a good time was had by all.
