Twilight Run to Loganton

Twilight Run to Loganton

After a long, brutally cold winter in Central PA, we finally got a stretch of weather that made it impossible to keep the bikes parked. Marty sent out a message about a lunch run to the Twilight Diner in Loganton, and six of us showed up: Marty, Chris, Jay, Phil, Bob, and Robin.

We met at Sheetz around 10 for a 10:30 kickstands-up. After the usual fueling, and standing around talking longer than planned, we headed out and worked our way north through Bellefonte and over toward Wingate to pick up Little Marsh Creek Road. If you’ve ridden it, you already know it's one of the better roads around here and a solid way to knock the rust off.

We eventually popped out on 150 and headed toward Mill Hall. Fishing Creek was lined with fishermen, and we actually saw one guy land a pretty decent trout, which felt like a rare live-action moment instead of the usual “guy standing in water doing nothing.”

At Salona we grabbed 477 and took it up and over the mountain into Loganton. Always a fun stretch, and it didn’t disappoint. We rolled into the Twilight Diner ready for food and not in any kind of rush.

Lunch hit the spot. Jay's fish sandwich may have actually been a small whale. As a bonus, the place doubles as an ice cream stop, so Marty and I grabbed the Grand Coddiwomple flags and took a quick photo to check that box. No shame in multitasking.

From there, we set our sights on another nearby target: the Logan Mills Covered Bridge. A short hop down 880 got us there, flags in hand once again for a few more photos.

We worked our way down West Winter Road to reconnect with 880, then picked up 192 and 445 toward Millheim. From there, it was on to Coburn and a scenic ride along Penns Creek Road. The creek was lined with fishermen, though this time we didn’t see much action.

We eventually made our way to Upper Georges Valley Road and then 144 into Centre Hall, where we stopped to regroup and say our goodbyes. Marty split off for home, while the rest of us continued north toward State College by way of Linden Hall and Brush Valley Road before wrapping up the day.

All told, it was a perfect midday ride—ideal weather, light traffic, great roads, and good company. Not a bad way to kick off the riding season.
