2025 Ice Cream Rides Recap

Mid State Riders of PA – 2025 Ice Cream Meet-Up Recap

This summer, MSRP started a tradition of midweek motorcycling with our Ice Cream Meet-Ups. From May through September, we scheduled gatherings on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, with flexibility to pivot for weather or mileage. The goal was simple: get out on two wheels, catch up with friends, and enjoy a sweet treat.

Here’s where the season took us:

  • May 7 – Reedsville Creamery Ice Cream Stand in Reedsville
Marty, Chris, Beth, Robert, and Jay kicked things off (though Jay had a little mix-up with which location!).
  • May 20 – Ice Shack in Mill Hall (moved to Tuesday for weather)
Marty, Tara, Chris, Beth, and Bill gathered for our first “rain plan” ride.
  • June 4 – Couch’s Subs and Grocery in Huntingdon
A location swap after realizing the original pick was a bit far for a weeknight. Marty, Tara, Chris, Beth, Dan, and Dan’s wife Lisa practically shut Couch’s down.
  • June 18 – Old Mill Creamery in Mifflinburg
With many members at the National Rally, no motorcycles showed up—but Chris and Beth rallied their camping crew (Kim, Matt, Rachel, and Jeremy) to represent MSRP over ice cream.
  • July 2 – Hall’s Ice Cream in Millerstown
Curveball! Hall’s was closed despite posted hours. Marty, Tara, and Bruce detoured to McDonald’s in Mifflintown while Chris and Beth pressed on to Hershey for dinner and dessert at The Ranch House.
  • July 16 – Cold Stream Creamery in Philipsburg
A motorcycle-less meet-up: Marty, Tara, Chris, Beth, Randall, and his wife enjoyed sanctuary from summer storms while catching up.
  • August 6 – Ritchey’s Dairy in Martinsburg
A smaller but lively group of Marty, Tara, and Chris linked up with some riders from Adventure Rider. Great ice cream, and new friends learned about MSRP.
  • August 20 – Lower Trail Creamery in Williamsburg
Marty, Tara, and Chris chatted with the owner, who even used Tara’s photo of their treats on the LTC Facebook page.
  • September 3 – Twin Kiss Restaurant in Howard
Marty, Tara, Chris, Jay, Robert, and Lynn wrapped up the month’s first ride. Beth had planned to attend, but a five-hour meeting at work kept her sidelined.
  • September 17 – The Meadows of Happy Valley in Bellefonte
A strong finish with Marty, Tara, Chris, Beth, Robert, and Lynn. This was Beth’s first post-op ride—a 35-mile loop with no pain and no regrets.

Reflections
While turnout wasn’t as high as we hoped, those who came enjoyed good rides, good ice cream, and plenty of good company. Flexibility was key, with weather, operating hours, and mileage shaping our routes—but our nimble group always found a way to keep the tradition alive.

Looking Ahead
For 2026, we’re brainstorming some fresh ideas—like mixing in pizza shops on the first Wednesday of the month and ice cream shops on the third. We also want your feedback:

  • Should we adjust mileage or timing?
  • Try different kinds of venues?
  • Explore other midweek destinations?

Whatever the final format, the goal stays the same: getting riders together for food, friendship, and fun.

It might not be easy because they are less organized than MSRP, but setting dates for these midweek rides so as not to conflict with Moto Hang would be a plus. Some of them might even join us from time to time….
